cupacakes at dawn!!

o.k not dawn bt 1am is close enough and by the time i go back down-stairs and ice them it will be dawn im sure!! i saw on the 'is my blog burning' site an event or two on cupcakes, now some have added ingredients that must be added and some are simply your own cupcake, nw the ones i chose to make are nothing spectacualr as such. bt when tasted and judging by how often i get asked to mkae them they are. and to be honest you cnt beat good honest simply pimple bobs your uncle back to the old days do it yourself butterfly cakes.

my first task is to go and see if i am in time to enter it in this months event, i am always late and feel so bad later posting on here when i havent go it into the main page of events!!

back to the cake. as i was saying it isnt a mix of this or a dash of that or anything lovely caramel added,(which by the way i am not saying these new cakes i awe at every day are bad,i think im simply jealous i cnt come up with a good one!!) bt these have been a firm favouritein our family, though we are boring buggers. anohter reason why it is so hard to enter the events i see around the cyer space, because we are too scared to try new things, when i do stuff it unfer their noses they love it bt actually get it ..oh no there wimps, wimps wimps...
i remember being with gran so much when i was little round at her and grandads house all the time!! from when i can rememebr grnada was ill, he had a brain tumour and was left a different man when he came out of hospital,so he sat watching his t.v and pndering on the new world a dreadful illness had brought him into, and me and my sister and later brother when he was out his high chair lol, baked in the kitchen, its a small kitchen and all of us in there fit perfectly when lined up against the one worktop side by side, passing the flour to measure from the wale scales, and then arguing ovr who stired it, it weird hw you argue ovr things like that, usually the main arugmetn was who weighed the ingredients and then got to stir because each were as facinated as the other so we hd to take it in turs each time, often resulting in one stir each, yes this way took lots of time bt there was no longer a dough fight between us...!!

we made lots of things and seemed to do it all the time, as soon as we entered her door it was 'graaaaaaaan can we make cakes today' and the women always managed to have every single ingredient we needed in her cupbaord times two jst in case of mistakes lol!! gran of course was in charge of the oven and constantly had to remind us that putting our noses up against the glass door was not like putting it againts the window outside as this nasty bugger burnt the nostril off if we tried it!!
the one thing i can always remeber though was butterfly cakes, fairy cakes or any kind of single mini cupcakes, of all varieties, sometimes choc chip, iced, jammed, nutted, fruited, oh the endless poissiblilites with a cupcake, and the good thing with these mini delights is that you can have a different added extra in each haha, MEGGA CHILDS HAPPY HOUR EH!!
the one that was always a favourite is the butterfly cake, oh my these cute little creatures, from the batter half gone by the times me and my ssiter had finsihed spooning one into the paper-case and one into the trough..then the watching the oven(no nose burning included) then the timer that always went on and was exciting because it went ping!!then to the endless hours(so it seemed)of waiting for them to cool,to finally being able to make the buttercream and again half eaten by me and sis!!to gran guiding our hands with the knife(because kids should always be supervised with sharp objects) in a circle to make the whoole in the middle, to cutting the cut out piece in half to form the pretty wings, to filling the whole, to putting the wings delicatly on top squidging slightly for full effect..to sometimes geting angry when you drop a wing in the wrong place and it gets all messed up, to then ending up with a wonderful plate of butterfly cakes, and later an empty one!!what....!!

infact for my mums 40th(yes mother the world no longer believe you twenty)me and gran did a tiered fairy cake extrevanganza lol!!where we got a wedding cake stand idea, made of foil wrapeed cake bean tins for the stnads!!(blue peter eat your heart out)and then the silver cake boards and millions of butterfly cake all tierd to the top where there was one traditional fondant iced cake!!oh mum loved it and we were so proud, and now almost a decade later these tiered fariy cake stands are quite the trend(gran we so did it before anynone)

and now cupcakes are a must in our house on the favourite list, for some awful reason i have gotten into only making them every time we go to our fmaily places on the beach in wales, its a tradiotoin to mkae a big batch for the journey to go with my grans tradition of bacon butties,(and of course sam tradiotn of still needing a macdonals with a whisper in my ear as i got to the toilet 'get me a mclfurry pleaaadse kate' i love him so i do and his smile is all to perfect to ignore when i hand it to him without dad being aware(we have this art down!!)so tonight i thought hey mums on lnet so she cnt have the choc biscuits and bars we keep having to buy for my teenage, thereofre hungry brother and its mothers day very soon so lets start the loving mummyness and jst because it was 1am and wanted to bake my little heart out,
i made a batch of mixed butterfly cakes, a few coffee flavoured, a few choc, and a few plain yet glrious vanilla faloured, and later they will be filled with buttercream of course,oh and coffe flavoured buttercream for the coffe ones!!then when they wake up and slob around getting ready for work they can see these little buuuuties and hopefull feel a bit bettr,or it will make there days go longer coz they want cupcakes hmmm..!!
love you family!!
